MANATEE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB, INC.
MINUTES Membership Business Meeting
September 02 2008
The meeting was called to order by Geoff Haynes, N1GY, President, at 7:00 PM
Introductions were held, those attending were counted and a quorum was established.
Geoff had just returned from his vacation in and he visited his old radio club, “Mariton Amateur Radio Club, Inc.” also MARCI. They sent their best wishes to us.
The minutes from the previous meetings were accepted as published on the web site www.manatee_arc.org.
Some items for sale were presented, one is a tape recorder in new condition and a box of stuff, both open for bids, if you’re interested call Geoff. Geoff also has some “HAM” stickers for your car.
The treasures report was given and accepted.
We had a starting balance of $2880.49, income of $0 and expenditures of $163.74 including a $100 donation to the Big stick repeater club, NI4CE leaving a balance of $2,716.75.
NI4CE’s repeater went south and must be replaced at a cost of about $1,700. Our club donated $100.00 toward the new repeater.
Frank gave a report on the Tech Class, they had a good turn out and gave out MARCI memberships to all new hams for 2009. One fellow took the Tech test just to have something to do and he passed that, then took the General test and passed the Extra class test and passed that, he did have a Novice ticket to start with. He went from Novice to Extra all in one day.
The AREAS report was given next and we did not have enough members and are open for new members.
A discussion was held about the resent mandatory evacuation for all mobile home people and only three shelters were open, it was explained that more shelters would have opened if the needed.
Bob Somerville gave a membership report, he would like to have any old members email address so he could contact them and invite them back to the club.
There is a lot of equipment listed on the web site as for sale, several people have tried to contact the owner but got no response. The matter of being a member to list items came up and it will be discussed at the next BOD meeting.
The AREAS trailer has several computers that Frank would like to sell, anyone interested please call Frank.
Ed Skalecki, NI4MX gave a very interesting talk on digital communication.
A motion was made to close the meeting.
Respectively Submitted.
Jerry Johnson, AE4XW, Secretary
